Merry Christmas! Grinch Mask Costume Theatre Festivals OOAK ART
I just could not resist making the Grinch Mask for the holidays. I love him! It's just not the holidays without him. Dr. Seuss is my hero.

YETI-Abominable Snowman Mask Costume Theatre Festivals Art OOAK
I received the most beautiful fleece from my fibre friend Laura, so I put out a contest on my fb page to see who could come up with the best mask idea for it. There were so many great ideas, and I plan on making most of them eventually, but Yeti was the winner. I think he turned out great. The beautiful snowy view from my window sure helped me get inspired to bring him to life.

Axolotl Oversize Mask Costume Festival theatre halloween
This was the strangest request I have had so far...an Axolotl creature. I had to look it up. This is an oversize mask, so the nostrils are actually the eye holes. I made 2 versions, 1 silly, and one serious. My friend opted for the realistic version. She looks fabulous in the mask! I had so much fun making it.
Octopus FaceScape Mask Festivals Costume Theatre
Here is a facescape of an octopus that I made back in September, and she sold right away. I love this one.

Seahorse Art Mask Costume Theatre Halloween Make Believe Wool Felt Fun
Here is my second "FaceScape" This one is more geared toward children. I simplified the seahorse for a more "cutesy" look rather than realistic. I thought it would be fun for people who work with children, like storytellers, daycare workers, teachers etc. Bright and cheery.
It was a nice change of pace from Halloween masks :)

New Art Mask Halloween Costume Festivals Theatre "FaceScape" Tree Frog
I am excited to explore this new-to-me concept in masks. I call it "FaceScapes." The idea is to create small scenes on the face in the form of a mask. I really love the possibilities of adding yet another layer to the scene by adding face paint or make-up. I think these will appeal to those who a) do not like their whole face covered, b) teachers and daycare workers that might want fun new ways to illustrate a story, c) performing arts.
Come to think of it, doctors and nurses at Childrens hospitals should really sport one of these to check on their wee patients. I know it would make me feel better!
These are really fun and quite challenging to make. I cannot wait to see where this adventure takes me...

Scary Halloween Custom Jack-O-Lantern Wool Felted Mask
The Winner of last weeks contest featured on SpinArtiste was Aubrey Barkley, and here is what she wrote:
"I'd love to see a wicked witch or a cat for Halloween. But my top choice would be a pumpkin head, evil with teeth of course. Sort of reminding me of the story of Sleepy Hollow.
I had already made a witch, and I wasn't feeling inspired to make a cat. I was intrigued by the challenge of an evil pumpkin head, thus Whack-O Jack-O was born. Thankfully Aubrey was pleased with it, so I am as well.

Big Foot does exist, and his favourite beer really is Kokanee! I actually made this mask to tease my hubby because he (foolishly) admitted to me that the only thing that creeps him out is Big Foot. *evil grin* I couldn't resist...this ought to keep him in line!
This is my first, full 360 degree mask. The semi felted chocolate brown mohair fleece was screaming to become Big Foot...now to search for all those nasty matted fleeces that no-one else wants!
